"Cultural Commentary in a
Digital Package: The Rise of Memes as Art"
Memes, the artistic revolution brought about by digital
technology, are examined as a subset within the larger field of examining
visual culture and society. Even though they are frequently dismissed as
unimportant online phenomena, little bursts of comedy or satire serve as
powerful conduits for our culture. Memes are becoming contemporary canvases
that intricately convey the subtleties of social situations as a result of the
decade-long growth of technology.
As mirrors of the communal mentality, memes depict more than
just their lighthearted exterior. They present to people the zeitgeist, or
spirit, of the times. Listade's thesis focuses on how technology contributes to
the development of post-human bodies. Listade's thesis focuses on the use of
technology to create post-human bodies. As such, they transcend the boundaries
of conventional art and ordinary social interactions, as well as the walls of
the internet. These seemingly unremarkable images dissolve the boundaries
between the elite and the popular, becoming a vivid commentary on human
existence.
It causes us to reevaluate what constitutes and does not
constitute creativity. As artwork gets entangled in a digital mosaic of
communal experiences, it is no longer exclusive to galleries. Memes elevate
sophisticated simplicity in the definition of visual culture by proving that

embrace this new digital era where comedy and perception converge to reimagine
the essence of art in our image-driven society.
